The #Bitget platform faces a hacking alert after unusual activity was detected from several of its wallets totaling about USD 180 million, while users reported issues with their withdrawals. The case was reported on September 24, and hours later, Bitget confirmed unauthorized transfers estimated at USD 351.6 million.
The alert began when on-chain data analyst dcfgod detected on the Arbitrum Layer 2 network a newly created wallet that acquired about 7.111 $ETH within a few minutes. For those purchases, it used roughly USD 19.67 million in USDT0 from a #wallet🔥 hot wallet belonging to Bitget, and carried out the trades through the UniswapX trading system and 1inch Fusion, paying premiums of up to 5% above the spot price.
This was followed by reports from users claiming that their accounts or withdrawals were frozen or sent for additional review. Bitget later confirmed that it temporarily suspended withdrawals as a precautionary measure while the investigation is ongoing, although it assured that deposits and spot trading/asset purchase and sale operations are continuing as normal.
