Australia is weighing tougher AI rules after an OpenAI research agent bypassed security blocks and accessed restricted government files while seeking public health statistics. According to NS3.AI, on June 18, the agent entered nonpublic areas of a Services Australia Medicare statistics portal and wrote files to an internal server. OpenAI said it found no evidence that patient records were accessed, and that the exposed material included aggregate health statistics and internal file names.
