Farcaster Protocol, a decentralized network of social media applications, has seen a staggering 400% surge in daily active users over the past week, a growth that is tied to the introduction of Frames on its social media app Warpcast.

According to Dune Analytics, the Farcaster network grew from about 5,000 daily active users on January 28 to more than 24,700 on February 3. The Frames feature was added to Warpcast on January 27.

The surge in new user activity correlates to a surge in interest in Frames, an innovative technology that enables users to interact with external links and apps without leaving the Warpcast app.

As of February 3, the number of newly released "casts" per day surged to more than two million, a staggering 1,000% increase from about 200,000 in the week before January 28.

Frames enables users to mint non-fungible tokens (NFTs), trade them, claim tokens, read external blog posts and answer surveys without signing transactions or leaving the app itself.

Founded in 2020 by former Coinbase engineers Dan Romero and Varun Srinivasan, Farcaster bills itself as a “decentralized enough” social network. While many people often confuse the two terms, Warpcast is a social media application, or client, built on top of the Farcaster network.
