I’m starting to not understand the logic of the current market more and more.
Tonight, US stocks opened lower. U.S. Treasury yields remain at elevated levels. Fresh economic data is also slightly stronger. Expectations that the Fed will continue raising rates this year have picked up again. Under the old script, with these factors stacked together, crypto should at least drop for a wave first, right?
But just now, the market directly shot up with a big bullish candle!
Now it feels like the market is no longer following the simple logic of “rate hikes = falling, rate cuts = rising.” Earlier, bad news kept coming one after another—rate hikes, war, legislation—yet every time the market gets hit, someone steps in to buy.
So maybe what we should be looking at isn’t how many more pieces of bad news there are, but rather this: with so much bad news, why can’t it be driven down at all? Who has been the one buying all along?
It’s getting more and more like the smell of a bull market 👀
