Recent digital security reports indicate that free artificial intelligence tools, many of them developed by Chinese companies, are being exploited by hackers to access smartphone cameras without users’ knowledge.

The most cited input vector is the TikTok environment itself, a platform controlled by ByteDance, which already has billions of users worldwide and tens of millions in Brazil alone.

The situation concerns specialists because it combines two elements with broad popular reach: a mass entertainment app and low-cost-access AI models. Together, they pave the way for sophisticated attacks that previously required considerable technical resources. The democratization of AI tools, therefore, has a dark side—and it is already underway.
