According to CNBC, Lowe's is launching a drone delivery service with DoorDash and Alphabet's Wing, marking a first for the home improvement retail sector. The pilot program is already live in North Carolina, and customers can order more than 100 products through DoorDash for delivery in as fast as 20 minutes. Lowe's said the drones currently carry orders of about 2.5 pounds per flight and operate within a 5-mile radius of the store in Matthews, North Carolina. Seemantini Godbole, Lowe's chief information and artificial intelligence officer, said the company is still testing the service and may expand it beyond the North Carolina store if it proves successful. She added that Lowe's is also working on express same-day delivery, innovation for shoppers and AI use in internal processes for store associates.
