#量子安全的BTC交易成本下降79 %

Event Overview

StarkWare, together with Yukon Research and Eigen Labs, hosted a week-long code optimization challenge. By leveraging developers and AI coding tools, the teams delivered 62 code improvements. The GPU computation cost for quantum-safe BTC (QSB) trading dropped from $320 to $66, a 79% reduction. The proposal does not require changing Bitcoin consensus rules, does not use a soft fork, and is considered an “emergency fallback” solution for Bitcoin to defend against the cracking of elliptic-curve signatures by quantum computers. On August 26, the first QSB transaction was completed on the mainnet. The optimization results are currently validated only through benchmark testing and have not yet completed a second on-chain real-world test.

Supporting Logic

1. Lower the cost of responding to quantum threats. Previously, the high computational cost of $320 limited large-scale adoption of the approach. After reducing it to $66, when quantum computer threats emerge, BTC holders will have a more feasible migration option.
2. The solution is compatible with the existing Bitcoin network. It does not require a full-network upgrade, and can serve as a short-term emergency defense measure.
3. AI-assisted code optimization boosts efficiency. Under the same GPU environment, the candidate verification speed increased from 146 million to 881 million checks per second, with rapid technical iteration.

Bearish Risks

1. The cost figures are only benchmark estimates and not real on-chain deployment validation; actual mainnet execution costs may differ.
2. There are protection limitations: it cannot protect BTC whose public keys have already been leaked on-chain. Transactions need to be packaged by miners who are willing to include this type of transaction.
3. The project team’s long-term plan still leans toward soft-fork upgrades. QSB is merely a temporary fallback solution, not a Bitcoin long-term quantum-safe roadmap.
4. The timeline for quantum computers to mature and be widely deployed remains highly uncertain, so no material threat is expected in the near term.

Outlook

This is a technical positive. In the short term, it is unlikely to strongly drive BTC price action. More importantly, it helps alleviate the market’s long-term concerns about quantum cracking of Bitcoin’s cryptographic system, serving as a positive add-on to the underlying security narrative and making it difficult to trigger a near-term rally.
