On-chain monitoring shows that after pausing for a week, Multicoin Capital deposited 130,331 HYPE into Coinbase Prime. At the then-current price, this was worth approximately $12.15 million. Looking over a longer period, since July 28, the institution has cumulatively transferred 4.23 million HYPE into Coinbase Prime, worth about $285 million.

A single transfer by itself does not constitute a directional judgment. Coinbase Prime mainly serves institutional customers. Once assets are moved to custody addresses, they could be preparing to sell—or they could simply be custodial handling, market-making, or a preliminary step for OTC settlement. On-chain data cannot reveal the subsequent intent. What is truly worth paying attention to is the rhythm: after a week-long pause, transfers resumed, and the cumulative scale is already not small. This suggests it is not a one-off reallocation, but more like a持续性 (ongoing) position arrangement.

In terms of the transmission mechanism, if these HYPE ultimately end up in the secondary market, they would directly increase spot sell pressure and weigh on both price and sentiment. If they remain within the custody system, the impact on the circulating supply would be limited. At present, there is no evidence that this batch of tokens has been sold, so we cannot equate the transfers with a bearish stance.

Next, two variables can be observed: first, whether the Coinbase Prime-related addresses subsequently make further transfers to exchange order books or to market-makers; second, whether Multicoin’s transfer frequency continues to accelerate. These two points are more indicative of intent than the amount in any single transfer.
