【AI is here! The cost of making BTC “quantum-attack-resistant” drops from $320 to $66 🔥】

Bitcoin has recently seen a pretty interesting technical development.

If, in the future, quantum computers really become powerful enough to break the cryptography Bitcoin uses today, BTC wallet security could face new threats.

And right now, research teams are preparing a “backup plan” in advance.

StarkWare has recently launched an optimization challenge, asking developers to use tools like AI to optimize the computation code for quantum-secure transactions.

The results are pretty astonishing:

To build a quantum-secure BTC transaction originally required about $320 in GPU computation costs; now it’s estimated to have dropped to around $66—an almost 79% cost reduction.

In simple terms: what used to require a lot of compute power to “calculate,” can now be done more cheaply and faster with more efficient code.

There’s also something especially notable about this approach:

It doesn’t require changing Bitcoin’s underlying consensus rules. That means it can serve as an emergency fallback without needing the entire Bitcoin network to upgrade first.

But don’t jump to the conclusion that “BTC is already quantum-attack-resistant.”

For now, the $66 figure is still a test-stage estimate and hasn’t been verified on another real on-chain transaction. Also, this kind of solution has its own limitations.

📌 So what’s truly worth paying attention to isn’t “BTC is about to be broken by quantum computers,” but the fact that the whole industry has already started preparing for this problem ahead of time.

From AI-optimizing code to researching new quantum-resistant signature schemes, Bitcoin’s security is confronting a very real question:

If quantum computing really arrives in the future, how will BTC protect itself?
