# US Stablecoins Expand Overseas

Bloomberg reports that US officials are considering supporting overseas dollar stablecoin projects to expand the use of the US dollar and increase demand for Treasury bonds. This matter is still at the consideration stage; it has not been announced as an official project, and no country, company, amount, or launch date has been disclosed.

What can actually be implemented is already in place: the Treasury Department says that the stablecoin issuers have already held nearly $200 billion in short-term Treasuries and other securities. So the significance for the market is not in a “new project,” but in the fact that regulatory-compliant stablecoin expansion will continue to move short-term bond demand on-chain. In terms of outlook, as long as the reserve rules of the GENIUS Act proceed as planned, the positive correlation between stablecoin supply growth and short-term bond holdings will likely continue; conversely, if overseas initiatives keep delaying disclosure of details, it suggests policy is still at the verbal level.
