BitMEX has stopped trading: being able to withdraw doesn’t mean the old process still works
For users who still have balances, first verify the new rules and process withdrawals. Do not continue transferring funds to the old deposit addresses. The platform keeps a withdrawal entry—but that doesn’t mean the old APIs or multi-network withdrawal methods from the past can still be used, nor does it mean every withdrawal request has already been credited.
On September 23, BitMEX officially announced that it will stop trading, deposits, and opening new positions, but will keep login and withdrawals. This was previously announced as part of the shutdown and is not a case where “all funds suddenly can’t be withdrawn.” However, the official says withdrawals are available, which does not replace proof of credit to a specific account.
What truly affects operations is the withdrawal restriction updated the same day: API withdrawals are disabled, and you must submit a manual request via the web page. USDT, USDC, and ETH are supported only on the Ethereum network. The minimum withdrawal amount follows what is shown on the application page. Therefore, confirm that the recipient supports the corresponding asset and network, then verify the address. Do not reuse old scripts or rely on a default network.
Fees also need to be checked on the new official page, not copied from old FAQs. The fee notice updated on September 23 states that accounts that have completed identity verification will be charged an account service fee starting October 1, deducted monthly from the balance. The specific rates will be communicated via the email address you registered with. Accounts that have not completed identity verification will still be subject to fees. This is not a promise that storage is free indefinitely.
Only use the verified official portal entry. Complete identity and security verification as required on the page. BitMEX clearly states that it will not ask users for private keys or seed phrases or request any additional payment to distribute funds. Don’t treat “customer service-assisted withdrawals” or “pay an unlock fee first” as a shortcut out.
Over the next week, watch whether the official further adjusts the withdrawal scope and fees. For applications you initiate, check the on-chain records and confirm that the recipient has received the funds. If withdrawals are officially paused, or if you have continuing evidence of not being credited even after ruling out account, verification, and network issues, you should raise your risk assessment. Relying only on the platform’s claim that “funds are safe” is not enough to lower risk.
