Binance plans to change its funds account into a stock account. It’s not the value of assets that gets moved first, but the location of crypto assets within the account.

Binance announced and PANews reported that, starting September 29, the platform will move users’ crypto assets from their funds accounts to their spot accounts in batches, expected to run until January 2027. After the migration is complete, the funds account will be renamed to a “stock account,” mainly used for stock and stock options settlement.

This is not an announcement that “users’ assets are being reduced.” Binance also said that the total value of assets will not change due to the migration; however, the sources of funds for deposits, payments, flash swaps, APIs, and C2C will be adjusted accordingly. The six settlement assets include USD, USDC, USDT, USD1, U, and BNB.

What’s really worth watching is the implementation detail: after September 29, the funds account will no longer support on-chain crypto deposits. The platform will also provide a “one-click migration.” Assets that users do not actively handle are planned to be automatically migrated in batches starting January 2027. The account name changes, and so does the user’s operating path.
