Banks in Central and Eastern Europe have begun offering “buy-coin entry points” to their 18 million customers.

Citing a report by Bloomberg, PANews says Raiffeisen Bank International will partner with Bitpanda to provide digital asset purchase services to around 18 million customers in the Central and Eastern European region, and will gradually roll it out to local subsidiaries. Bitpanda previously provided similar services for banks such as Germany’s N26.

What’s notable about these partnerships is not a single coin, but rather traditional banks integrating digital asset purchases into their own account systems, which lowers the barrier for ordinary users. Another point worth watching is that the plan is among the first major initiatives announced after Michael Hoellerer, the newly appointed CEO of Raiffeisen Bank International, took office; he is expected to disclose the bank’s new strategy by the end of this month.

For the market, the key thing to observe is more like the service launch timeline, coverage, and customer conversion rates—rather than getting the whole story out at once. Are you more focused on the long-term adoption rate brought by bank entry points, or on how it advances Europe’s regulatory compliance narrative?
