Ondo’s tokenization of stocks takes one more step forward in institutional workflows.
Ondo Finance, together with Alpaca, has launched in-kind subscription and redemption for institutional-grade Ondo Stocks. Eligible institutions can directly mint tokenized stock positions from their existing stock inventory or redeem them back. The service currently supports Ethereum and BNB Chain and is not open to retail investors. Market commentary is generally bullish on ONDO and the RWA tokenized stock segment.
Compared with the approach of selling shares for cash and then moving on-chain, this kind of setup is clearly more straightforward and involves less settlement friction. The product structure is also closer to the creation/redemption mechanisms of mature financial instruments such as ETFs.
