According to CNBC, Rivian Automotive said Wednesday it is recalling about 100,700 vehicles, or a majority of the vehicles it has produced to date, because a software issue can obstruct the rearview camera display. The recall covers certain 2022-2026 R1T pickup trucks, 2022-2027 R1S SUVs and 2027 R2 models, and the company said the issue involves non-compliance with U.S. and Canadian rear-visibility safety standards. Rivian said that in rare cases when stability control is off, a safety prompt to re-enable it may overlap the rearview camera view when the vehicle is shifted into reverse until it moves. The company added that more than 95% of the affected vehicles have already received a software fix and that all vehicles produced after August 10 include the updated software.
