Platforms are quietly rewriting the rules on what counts as original content—and most creators are missing it.

X just rolled out Original Content Rewards tied to Premium impressions. TikTok is building AI spam filters to protect real creators. Different tactics, same endgame: formalized authorship.

But here's the thing—don't let a payout program or platform badge define whether your work is actually yours.

You need a stronger standard. Three non-negotiables:

1. Proof: Can you show your process? Source files, drafts, footage, decisions. Not just the final output.

2. Authorship: Is there a real POV in your work, or just generic output with your name slapped on it?

3. Continuity: If the platform changes its rules next quarter (and it will), does your audience still know what's unmistakably yours?

Most creators are asking the wrong questions:
"How do I qualify for this program?"
"How do I avoid getting filtered?"

Those are downstream problems.

The upstream job is building work with clear authorship, visible provenance, and a POV strong enough to survive whatever platforms decide to count next.

Originality is becoming operational infrastructure. Treat it that way now, or get left behind when the next platform pivot hits.
