Do the 3-hour US-Iran talks send positive signals?

Both sides say the talks went well, but in reality, neither side made concessions.😄

Three hours were spent sitting beside the UN headquarters in New York, with Qatar passing messages in between. Iran said it wanted to first lift the naval blockade, repay the frozen money first, and pause fighting in the surrounding areas—only then would the Strait of Hormuz be opened. The United States agreed to none of these.

As soon as the news came out, oil prices dropped: crude fell immediately. People are hoping price pressures might ease a bit. Then $BTC shot up as well, rising from a bit over 80,000 to around 85,000.

Neither country’s president met in person. If the strait isn’t opened in a day, oil prices could jump back up at any time.

Trump has also said himself that Iran is watching how his midterm election campaign goes; if negotiations actually come to fruition, they would likely be pushed to after November. These three hours only passed conditions back and forth—far from solving the problem.😞
