MoonPay plans to acquire private market investment platform North Capital through an all-stock transaction valued at more than $60 million. The deal is pending regulatory approval. Upon completion, North Capital will become a wholly owned subsidiary of MoonPay. North Capital’s platform handles primary and secondary market trading volumes of about $9 billion. Its affiliated entities hold relevant brokerage transaction, transfer, and investment adviser registration qualifications with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and provide foundational infrastructure for tokenizing securities, financing, asset management, clearing, custody, and secondary trading for private securities issuers and fund managers. MoonPay says the acquisition will support its efforts to apply tokenization to real-world assets. (CoinDesk)
