On September 22, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange Group (CME Group) announced that it plans to launch Bitcoin Cash ($BCH ) and Uniswap ($UNI ) futures on October 19 (pending regulatory approval). This is in response to institutional demand for risk-management tools for high-liquidity altcoins. The standard contract size will be 250 BCH and 10,000 UNI, and it will also offer mini contracts (25 BCH and 1,000 UNI). The offering will further expand the existing lineup of products including Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Solana, and others. Contracts will be cash-settled.

After the news was released, $BCH surged significantly in the short term. Multiple market reports show that before around September 23, BCH’s 24-hour gain was approximately 30%; during the day it briefly traded above the $350 mark. In the same period, $UNI also followed with gains before partially giving them back. By putting payment-related forked coins and DeFi governance tokens into a single regulatory futures framework, CME will provide institutions with exposure without needing to hold the underlying coins. However, the launch still depends on regulatory review, and after opening, liquidity and basis still need to be monitored.
