📰 BlackRock, Visa, Mastercard, and DTCC are all listed among Arc’s founding validators, but in this new chain launched by Circle, the busiest place on day one has been the meme coin launchpad.

On its launch day, Arc processed 7.76 million transactions, with DEX volumes reaching $410.8 million—82% of which came from the meme coin issuance platform. Just Arguspad alone contributed $202 million and issued more than 80,000 new coins within 24 hours. Honestly, the start has been a bit more surprising than expected.🔥

Compared with the Robinhood Chain, Arc’s DEX volume on day one is about 28 times higher. Both chains have protocols integrated such as Uniswap and Morpho, but the early capital flow is completely different: most of Robinhood Chain’s funds went into lending pools, while Arc was first warmed up by the launchpad and speculative trades.

💡 Circle originally hoped Arc would be recognized as a payments and AI agent network, but if the new chain is to quickly gather users, it seems it still can’t avoid meme-driven traffic. Circle is also advancing its own payment and settlement services: on September 19, it already announced payment functionality for AI Agents and it supports Arc.

In fact, Arc’s significance to Circle isn’t only about trading hype. In Q2, the share of USDC held on Circle’s own platform rose to 19.5% of the circulating supply network-wide, up from 7.4% a year earlier. It also launched a native BTC-mapped asset, cirBTC, aiming to bring USDC, payments, and lending all onto its own chain. The question is: will this chain ultimately be remembered as a payments network—or will it survive first by riding meme momentum? What do you think?
