On the ends of the earth, we share this moment; the market never closes
This Mid-Autumn Festival, I keep thinking of the line “On the ends of the earth, we share this moment.”
Before I came into contact with the crypto market, I thought this phrase referred to family and friends. Even though everyone is in different places, they can look up and see the same moon. After getting involved in the crypto space, I realized this line can also be understood another way.
When I usually watch the charts, I find that the market’s “clock” is a bit different from our everyday lives. In Asia, people check the market; in Europe, people are at work; in the Americas, someone may just be starting their day. Everyone lives in different time zones, yet they may be paying attention to the same market at the same time.
This makes me wonder: as the distance between people gets farther and farther, does the distance between financial markets become closer, too?
In the past, financial markets in different regions had their own trading hours. Now, the internet allows information to spread quickly across the world. The crypto market also enables people in different places to follow the same market through the network.
For me, “trading without time difference” isn’t only that the market runs continuously. It’s also a form of connection. One person in China checks the market, and another in Europe checks the market. They might not know each other, yet they can simultaneously see the same chart.
Of course, even though the market never stops running, that doesn’t mean we have to stare at our screens all the time. Prices change every day, but people’s time and energy are limited. For me, understanding the market is more important than chasing every single fluctuation.
This Mid-Autumn Festival, I’ll still be with my family looking at the moon. On the other side of the world, maybe someone is watching their own trading page.
There is only one moon, but time is different for everyone. Distances between people may vary, yet we can form a connection through the same market.
