Cardano officially joined the x402 SDK, the open HTTP payment standard originally driven by Coinbase and currently managed by the Linux Foundation 3656
*What this means:
- *Any app or AI agent can now pay for an API call in $ADA or any CNT over a web request. No account, no API key, no checkout page*
- *Every service already on x402 can switch Cardano on immediately*
- Package ships with client, server, facilitator - facilitator verifies signed Cardano transactions and returns settlement proof
- Install: `npm install @x402/cardano` 3656
*Why Big?*
- x402 revives the unused HTTP 402 "Payment Required" code - turns it into machine-to-machine checkout. Agent signs payment, gets data instantly.
- Cardano joins *$SOL , $XRP Ledger, Ethereum-compatible chains* already live. But Cardano deepens relationship that started July 2026 when Foundation joined as Associate Member alongside Visa, Mastercard, Stripe, Google, AWS, Coinbase
