Novo Nordisk is open to the possibility of upgrading the status of its American listing by moving to a direct listing of shares on the New York Stock Exchange, the company's CEO, Mike Dostdar, said in an interview with the Financial Times published on Wednesday.

Dostdar said that he sees advantages in such a move, but уточнил that the company is not currently actively considering this idea.

Any potential change will follow the example of the British pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca, which made a similar decision earlier this year.

The transition involves replacing American depositary receipts that currently allow U.S. investors to access the company’s shares.

Novo Nordisk, Denmark’s largest company by market capitalization, currently has its primary listing on Nasdaq Copenhagen. More than half of the company’s revenue comes from the U.S. market, while most sales of its weight-loss and diabetes drugs come from American customers.

The company produces Ozempic, a diabetes drug that has become widely known for its weight-loss properties. The share of U.S. investors in Novo Nordisk’s shareholder structure is steadily growing, making this market increasingly important for the Danish pharmaceutical manufacturer.
