Solana’s ($SOL ) Alpenglow Upgrade Enters Public Testnet
Solana’s highly anticipated Alpenglow upgrade has now entered the public testnet phase.
The main goal? ⚡ Reduce transaction finality from around 13 seconds to just 0.15 seconds (150ms).
Alpenglow will replace Solana’s current TowerBFT consensus system with Votor, allowing validators to confirm blocks through just one or two rounds of direct voting — while the way users send funds remains unchanged.
The first testnet migration requires Agave 4.3 and currently doesn’t support Firedancer or Frankendancer.
📅 A mainnet update is tentatively planned for September 28, but this is not yet a confirmed launch date.
