BTC has surged to 86,000—many people are starting to feel anxious again:
Can you still buy now? Will you end up chasing the price? Should you sell to lock in profits? Can altcoins rally as well?
Here’s the simplest position-management framework: ask yourself four questions, and the answers will come out.
Question 1: How long do you plan to hold?
If it’s short-term (within a few weeks): don’t chase. It’s up 16% in a week, RSI is quickly approaching 70—short-term is getting overbought, and the risk of a pullback is high.
If it’s long-term (more than a year): you can buy in batches. Below 80,000 is a good price. Once it reaches above 90,000, just wait.
Question 2: Are you comfortable with your current position size?
If your position is already heavy (70%+): don’t add—just hold. When it rises, you make money; when it falls, you’ll still have “bullets” to respond.
If your position is very light (30% or below): use the pullback to build in batches. Don’t wait for a “lower position.” If it truly drops further, you might not dare to buy.
Question 3: How large a drawdown can you tolerate?
If a 20% drop keeps you up at night: don’t use leverage. Keep your position within 50%.
If a 50% drop still doesn’t stop you from holding: you can allocate some high-quality altcoins—there’s more upside potential.
Question 4: Do you have confidence in this industry?
If you only want to make quick money: entering at this level will most likely get you shaken out.
If you believe blockchain is the future: don’t overthink. Hold BTC and ETH—nothing is stronger than that.
As for trading,
what matters most isn’t how much you make,
but whether you can earn money comfortably.
When your position is comfortable,
you can hold it.
And when you can hold it,
you can make big money.
Good night.
