But what truly came in above expectations was the dot plot: out of 18 officials, 16 believed there should be another hike this year. The year-end policy rate median came in at 4.1%, and it stays at 4.1% in 2027. The message is very clear: the rate hikes aren’t a one-off—high rates need to be maintained for a long time.

Earlier, the market was still dreaming that once this round was done, rate cuts would follow. Now, those fantasies are shattered. As soon as Waller/Woish took the stage, the first fire was quite fierce—he gave Trump absolutely no face. Trump had previously said rates should be cut to below 1%, but the Fed instead raised rates and even hinted that more hikes could be coming.

Back in crypto: these past two days the decline has been truly brutal. The “CLEAR Act” didn’t pass, and the Fed turned hawkish again—double удар. BTC fell from 79,000 to 75,000. ETH dropped even more, with 120,000 liquidations.

But I actually think a concentration of negative news being released isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Everything that needed to fall has fallen, and everything that needed to be liquidated has been liquidated. Once the market digests it all, it can move forward in a lighter position. Now, BTC is holding around 75,000, which suggests there are buyers stepping in at this level.

Of course, I’m not saying a rise is coming immediately. Short-term pressure will still be there—macro conditions aren’t good, regulation is still uncertain, and the process of bottoming out may take some time. But if you look at the long run, these are just interludes.

The rate-hike cycle will always come to an end, and regulation will eventually become clear.
These things can’t change Bitcoin’s underlying value.
