BTC is approaching 87,200—what matters is whether it can hold
BTC rebounded from around 85,300 and once again moved above 86,500. Many people see the price gradually rising and immediately assume: the 87,200 level will break through soon.
But 87,200 isn’t just an ordinary number—it’s the dividing line for whether this rebound can continue higher. Before it truly holds, even if the price gets close again, it’s only a retest for pressure.
There’s another detail in this upswing: over the past 12 hours, open positions measured in BTC decreased by about 2.6%. The aggressive buy side is only slightly stronger than the sell side. Prices are recovering, but leverage hasn’t increased in sync. This suggests the market is removing old positions, so you shouldn’t directly interpret it as a large influx of new long positions.
So next, watch two things:
After price reaches the 87,200 area, can it hold it on a one-hour timeframe;
When it pulls back to 85,300—85,500, can it continue to defend that zone.
If price breaks above and holds 87,200, a more clearly upward, oscillating trend becomes likely. If it loses 85,300, we’ll first look for this push to cool off, and then consider the next level around 84,500.
