Someone stole 3.6 million coins from him—yet that same year, he happened to change his own records with the vote.

In 2013, a 19-year-old wrote his white paper. He was different from $BTC : Bitcoin was meant to be money that doesn’t require intermediaries. What he wanted to build was a computer that no one can shut down.

In 2015, he went live. You could write programs onto it. Once written, they couldn’t be deleted—neither could he delete them himself.

In June 2016, someone found a vulnerability in his system. Overnight, 3.6 million coins were moved away. The community argued for many days, and in the end the vote decided: roll the ledger back to before the incident, and return the money. Some agreed, some didn’t. The group that didn’t agreed took the old ledger with them, set up their own chain, and it still exists today—called Ethereum Classic. That was the first time he was split into two halves, and the first time he proved that the phrase “code is law” isn’t absolute.

In September 2022, he dismantled himself and reinstalled: he changed from burning electricity for mining to staking and bookkeeping, reducing energy consumption by 99.95%. From that day on, he no longer increased supply outwardly; transaction fees also needed to burn some. He started to become scarcer.

At his cheapest, he was $0.43 per coin. Today, it’s $2,745. Back then, 1000 U thrown in is now 6.34 million U.

Today he’s $2,745.93, with a market cap of $334.5 billion—second among crypto assets, still 44.6% away from his own all-time high of $4,946. It’s down 34.67% over 1 year, but the last 7 days have risen 13.84%.

As for how people are lining up right now: among retail traders, seven out of ten are buying, and long accounts make up 71.15%. The side with more money also leans on longs, with positions accounting for 59.85%. On the chart, the daily MA20 (2,526.33) is holding from below. On the 1-hour timeframe, RSI14 is 54.28. Resistance is at 2,806.76 above, support is at 2,714.41 below—the side leaning bullish in the short term.

Now is the early stage of a bull market, with gold everywhere. If you hold long-term, you can enter at the current price with a small position of $ETH . Buy more as it falls—buy more the bigger the drop, buy a little on small dips.
