Binance bets $100 million on Circle: USDC partnership extends for 5 years: Details

Binance announced an investment of $100 million in “Circle,” the issuer of the stablecoin USDC, alongside the signing of a new commercial agreement extending for five years to enhance the use of the stable digital currency.

Under the deal, Binance purchased nearly 1.237 million Class A shares in “Circle” at $80.84 per share, as part of a private placement that closed on September 17.

Binance also committed not to sell, transfer, or hedge the shares for up to two years, while retaining voting rights.

Long-term partnership on USDC:

The new agreement replaces previous arrangements between the two companies and continues the incentive model tied to the amount of USDC held through “Circle” infrastructure services for wallets.

“Circle” had previously paid Binance $60.25 million in one-time fees under an earlier agreement, along with monthly incentives tied to USDC holdings.

“Circle” data showed that distribution costs related to Binance rose to $152.1 million during 2025, while distribution and transaction costs reached $410.4 million in the second quarter of the current year.

Binance CEO stated that the investment and the new agreement reflect a long-term commitment to “Circle” and USDC, also pointing to the “Arc” network and the new cross-border payments infrastructure.
