📰 On July 26, the cat-themed Memecoin CATE was launched on Solana via Pump.fun. It started when Atsuko Sato, the owner of the DOGE prototype Shiba Inu Kabosu, posted a rescued kitten video. The community quickly packaged it as a “cat version of DOGE.” However, this cat is actually named Momo, and CATE is not issued or endorsed by Sato herself.
🔥 After CATE launched, it quickly went viral through social sharing, surging more than 230x at one point within a single day. Honestly, this kind of game—turning attention into trades fast—is pretty familiar. But when a coin suddenly blows up, it doesn’t mean the whole “cat season” has come back. Old projects like POPCAT and MEW still have trading, but new projects don’t see synchronized strength.
💡 The Solana Meme frontlines are indeed heating up. In the week of August 26, spot trading volume for Solana Memecoins was about $5.2 billion, setting a new weekly high since 2026. Still, liquidity remains concentrated in a handful of top projects. New coins can be issued easily, but they’re hard to keep around long-term.

👀 The data is even more direct: an analysis of more than 18.67 million Pump.fun tokens shows that about 68.7% of tokens had their last trade on the day they were launched, and only 4.55% have trading records longer than 90 days. Statistics may not fully cover trades that moved to external DEXs after launch, but the rate of attrition is still pretty alarming.
🤔 Do you think CATE can survive this attention cycle, or will it ultimately become the hottest coin on that day—then nobody talks about it a few weeks later?
