Wu Shuo learned that Dutch police reported that officers arrested two men suspected of scamming Rolex watches sellers using fake EURC tokens. In August 2025, multiple sellers agreed with buyers to receive EURC payments via the secondhand trading platform Marktplaats, but what they actually received were counterfeit tokens with an appearance similar to the real ones, but essentially worthless. One seller, after seeing the transfer, delivered the watch, only to realize they had been scammed when they tried to exchange the tokens for euros. On September 9, police arrested two suspects aged 24 and 45, respectively, and are still investigating whether they are involved in other cryptocurrency fraud cases.
