Wu Shuo learned that digital asset management company 21Shares released a research article stating that the market capitalization of the privacy coin sector grew nearly fivefold over the past year from $6.2 billion to about $30 billion. Of this, Zcash has a market cap of roughly $20 billion, representing an increase of about 400% compared with its 2021 peak. 21Shares noted that privacy coins are the only crypto sector in its statistics that exceeded the October 2025 high, rising 216% from that high. The firm believes that transaction and holdings information on public blockchains may reveal institutional strategies, making trading confidentiality an important condition for institutional adoption of blockchain technology. Ethereum and Solana are working to add privacy features, while networks such as Canton offer institutional users mechanisms for controlled disclosure of information.
