Algorithmic trading vs passive income: two approaches in one account
My main job is algorithmic strategies and manual technical analysis. I constantly monitor charts, enter on an indicator signal, and exit by market structure. This is an active approach: potentially higher returns, but also ongoing involvement and stress.
Binance Earn is the opposite. The deposit works on its own, without needing to sit by the screen and catch the entry point.
What’s the difference in practice:
🔹 Time — algorithmic trading requires control over the bot and the market; Earn is a “set it and forget it”.
🔹 Risk — active trading offers a wider range of return potential (and losses); Earn is more predictable, but also more modest in returns.
🔹 Role in the portfolio — I don’t see any competition here. Part of the capital works on active signals, and part works on “autopilot” via Earn while I’m away from the terminal.
Combining these two approaches creates balance: the thrill and potential of active trading + the stability of passive income as a buffer.
