💥 Solana has activated Transaction V1 on mainnet, increasing the maximum transaction size from 1,232 to 4,096 bytes — roughly 3.3x larger.
📣 More room for complex transactions
The previous limit forced some complex operations to be split across multiple transactions. Transaction V1 allows more data and instructions to be processed within a single transaction, benefiting use cases such as:
✔️ Zero-knowledge proofs (ZK)
✔️ Multisig and BLS signatures
✔️ Confidential Transfers
✔️ Complex DeFi and cross-chain transactions
🔴 However, this does not mean Solana's TPS increases 3.3x. The upgrade mainly expands the amount of data and complexity that can fit into a single transaction.
Legacy and V0 transactions remain supported, while applications looking to use the 4,096-byte limit will need to adopt Transaction V1.
