Kakao Pay and Kakao Bank announce that they have signed an MOU with digital asset infrastructure company Fireblocks, to jointly explore a framework for the distribution of digital assets in South Korea, focusing on stablecoins. They also plan to conduct PoC testing to assess whether the proposed solutions can meet South Korea’s regulatory, security, and service requirements. Kakao Pay previously completed a digital asset wallet PoC supporting stablecoin transfers, payments, and settlement. Its Kakao Pay Money service covers about 43 million users. Fireblocks provides digital asset infrastructure for more than 2,500 institutions, including over 100 banks. (The Block)
