The wealth threshold to be included on the annual list of the 400 richest Americans has reached $4.4 billion today, a record. The number of billionaires under 40 rose from four last year to ten, seven of whom built their fortune thanks to AI-focused start-ups. Of these seven billionaires, four made their fortune at Anthropic, the AI company founded five years ago and currently valued at $1.5 trillion on secondary markets. The other three come from Surge AI, OpenAI, and Cognition.
