• T-Bank, one of Russia’s largest banks, has started offering cryptocurrency trading through its new service T-Crypto.
• The process is quite simple: users can open a separate crypto account, fund it with RUB directly from their T-Bank balance, exchange RUB for USDT, and then buy GRAM within T-Terminal. One important detail: T-Crypto itself is not operated by T-Bank. The actual broker is Techbit Lab, headquartered in Belarus, while T-Bank handles KYC and acts as the fiat on-ramp.
• For now, the setup is fully custodial. Users do not control the keys, external withdrawals are not available yet, and balances are not covered by bank deposit insurance. The terms also explicitly mention counterparty risk related to the broker and the banks handling clients’ funds.
• Even so, the distribution approach is pretty interesting. A regular customer of one of Russia’s largest banks can now go from RUB in a bank account to GRAM in just a few clicks, with no P2P, no separate accounts on CEXs, and no native crypto onboarding required.
• That’s a surprisingly low-friction way for an asset from the TON ecosystem to reach mainstream retail users.
