AMD (AMD.O) rose more than 9% in the Sept. 21 session, at one point reaching a record high of $613.92 and pushing its market capitalization above $1 trillion, amid continued growth in AI chip demand.

AMD became the fourth US chipmaker to surpass this market-capitalization threshold, following Nvidia (NVDA.O), Broadcom (AVGO.O), and Micron Technology (MU.O). The company is seen as one of Nvidia’s major rivals in the GPU market.

The rally spread across the chip stock group in the US. Intel’s share (INTC.O) rose about 11% in the session, Qualcomm (QCOM.O) gained 4.1%, while the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index increased 2.6% to its highest level in a month.

Nvidia crossed the $1 trillion market capitalization milestone in 2023 and is currently the most valuable company in the world, with a market cap of over $5 trillion.
