Before the US market opens, let me say something a bit uncomfortable.
Federal Reserve official Goolsbee has warned: if inflation doesn’t fall, the Fed will have to take clear action—raise rates. Note: raise rates. And he chose to say this right when the S&P is up 1% on AI stocks and $AMD has just entered the trillion-dollar club. Oil prices are still bouncing around at $100—Mosco’s refinery was bombed and shut down, the charter rates for Hormuz oil tankers surpassed one million dollars a day, and US diesel prices hit a record. Where is the room for inflation to ease?
Over in crypto, there’s a real piece of news that’s been drowned out by oil-price noise: $HYPE is set to come to the US. Kraken’s parent company, Payward, plans to bring Hyperliquid’s HIP-3 market to American users. In Q2 alone, its average open interest was already around $9 billion. With on-chain derivatives compliance landing onshore, this narrative is far more convincing than KOLs shouting orders.
The European Central Bank has also officially rolled out the digital euro—starting with tokenized payments between banks. Whether CBDCs are a threat or a boost for decentralization can be debated slowly, but traditional finance embracing tokenization is already something we don’t need to argue about anymore.
$BTC in the near term is basically being priced as a macro asset—since oil can’t seem to settle, treat the volatility as friction costs.
