950 Bitcoins for $75.7 million, Strategy buys
Strategy bought 950 BTC for $75.7 million, putting an end to a two-week pause. Michael Saylor’s firm also repurchased $174 million worth of its preferred shares STRC, while Strive made a similarly bold bet on Bitcoin the same week.
Strategy’s treasury now holds 846,000 BTC after buying at an average of $79,670 per unit.
Strategy also spent $174 million to repurchase its STRC shares.
Strive bought 1,355 BTC at nearly the same price, while Bitcoin is once again the world’s 10th-largest asset.
Strategy resumes its massive Bitcoin purchases
After resting for two weeks, Strategy resumes its Bitcoin buys. According to the 8-K form filed on Monday with the SEC, Michael Saylor’s company acquired 950 BTC for $75.7 million at an average price of $79,670 per token. Strategy’s treasury then rises to 846,000 BTC—about $63.8 billion in total at an average cost of $75,416 per bitcoin. With a bitcoin price of $84,925 at the time of publication, the company’s unrealized gain is around $8.05 billion.
But Strategy isn’t only accumulating bitcoin; it also allocated $174 million to repurchase 1.77 million shares of STRC. This reassures investors about the company’s ability to manage its obligations while continuing to buy BTC. It still has $875.1 million available under this share repurchase program, and $1 billion under the one dedicated to the MSTR stock. The only minor drawback is that Strategy’s cash treasury has fallen by nearly 20% in a week, dropping from $1.30 to $1.05 billion.
