ZetaChain launches its own blockchain and switches to Solana
With 99.4 percent approval, the ZetaChain community has decided to give up its own Layer 1 blockchain and migrate the ZETA token to Solana.
ZetaChain was developed as a standalone blockchain to connect different networks with each other. Developers should be able to build applications that work across multiple blockchains.
What changes now?
The blockchain of its own will be discontinued. In the future, ZETA will exist as an SPL token on Solana. At the same time, ZetaChain is shifting its focus to Anuma, a framework for private AI applications. Solana will provide the blockchain infrastructure.
Transaction fees will be paid with SOL going forward, and the previous role of securing its own blockchain will no longer apply.
The decision shows an interesting development!
Not every crypto project needs its own blockchain. Existing networks could increasingly serve as infrastructure for projects that want to focus more on their applications.
If more standalone blockchain projects take a similar path, it could change the structure of the crypto market in the long term.
CURRENT APPROACH
Own blockchain + own token + own application
NEW APPROACH
Existing blockchain + own token + own application
