🚨 EVENING MARKET UPDATE $BTC JUST HIT $86K. THE MARKET HAS CHANGED FAST.
Bitcoin has pushed above $86,000, marking its highest level in roughly eight months and extending a powerful risk-on move across crypto. The rally accelerated as short sellers were squeezed, with more than $300M of shorts liquidated in a single hour at one point.
Institutional demand is also back in focus. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs attracted roughly $433M on Friday, while Strategy bought another 950 BTC for about $75.7M, taking its holdings to 846,000 BTC.
ETH followed the move higher, trading around $2.72K, while SOL, XRP and several Layer-1 names also rallied. Binance’s latest indexed snapshot showed SOL +7.4%, XRP +7.7%, NEAR +15.5% and SUI +24%, showing that capital is rotating aggressively beyond BTC.
🔥 What I’m watching tonight:
• BTC holding $85K–$86K after the breakout
• $87K — roughly the level where BTC would turn positive for 2026
• ETH holding above $2,670–$2,700
• whether SUI, NEAR, SOL and XRP can sustain elevated volume
• whether the short squeeze cools into healthy consolidation
Macro conditions helped too: falling oil prices and Treasury yields improved risk appetite, while SEC/CFTC regulatory initiatives softened the disappointment from the CLARITY Act setback.
⚠️ Risk note: moves powered partly by forced short liquidations can reverse sharply once that buying pressure fades. After a fast breakout, confirmation matters more than FOMO.
BTC $87K next — or do we see a retest of $85K first? 👀
