#Bitcoin The next stop for a mine: space.
A company called Starcloud is really preparing to send Bitcoin ASIC mining rigs into orbit.
On Starcloud-2, it’s not just mining rigs.
There’s also:
NVIDIA GPUs
AWS server blades
A large solar power system
Even more outrageous: last year, they already sent an NVIDIA H100 to space—and it really ran AI in orbit.
Why go through all this trouble?
The things most lacking in Earth’s AI data centers right now are:
Power
Land
Cooling
But space, on the other hand, has an almost limitless source of energy:
The sun.
Of course, launch costs, heat dissipation, and maintenance are still huge issues.
But from “a Bitcoin mining operation chasing cheap electricity,”
to now—there really are people who are prepared to:
Go straight after it all the way into space.
