Kyle Samani says SOL will flip Ethereum, saying, “Nobody uses ETH.”

Every year someone comes out and shouts this. The format is pretty much the same—just swap in a different token name and repost. In 2017, I saw someone claim ADA would flip ETH. Later it became DOT, and then SOL. Every time there are a bunch of believers and a bunch of haters. Samani has always had that style of speaking without holding back—so it doesn’t surprise me that he’s saying this.

But there’s one thing I have to admit: the on-chain data for Solana recently really does look impressive. TVL, active addresses, transaction volume—no matter which metric you pick, it looks good. This isn’t hype; it’s data. Am I tempted? Honestly, a little. But I’ve burned myself too many times on “XX will flip YY.” Each time I FOMO in, their narrative can last for three months, and I’ve already cut losses for two rounds.

Is ETH’s fundamentals weak? They are. But “nobody uses it” and “the ecosystem is trash” are two different things. ETH’s staking rate, the number of developers, and institutional adoption—these aren’t things SOL can erase in a single day. I’ll keep watching, but I’m not picking a side.
