According to Coinglass data, the current price of $BTC is around 80,500. Combined with Binance’s 1-day liquidation map, the long vs. short battle has reached a critical watershed.

In the range above 81,000 to 85,000, the cumulative liquidation strength of short positions shows a steep surge (peaking at over 500 million). This suggests a large amount of short leverage is stacked overhead. Once the bulls build up volume to break above 81,000, it is likely to trigger a short squeeze (short covering/“squeezing”), causing the price to be rapidly pushed up toward 82,000–83,000 to sweep the liquidity.

Meanwhile, on the downside, the liquidation “tickets” for long positions around 80,000 have basically been cleared (down to around 4.5 million). If the price falls below the 80,000 psychological level, a liquidity vacuum may form below, which could easily trigger cascading liquidation-driven drops, leading the price to seek dense long liquidation areas around 78,000 or even lower.
