Kalshi Accused of “Wash Trading,” Critics Dig Up a Batch of Completely Identical $5,500 Trade Records.

I’ve coded for a decade, and I have muscle memory for this kind of data— the same value keeps popping up repeatedly. It’s not market sentiment; it’s a for loop. The number of hands placed by real people comes with decimals. Of course, I don’t have the complete dataset, so I can’t convict anyone.

But what I care about is a deeper layer: the story prediction markets sell is “calibrate information with real money.” If the underlying trading volume can be manufactured in bulk, what they’re outputting isn’t price—it’s noise.

So when I look at on-chain reports, my habit is this— first look at the distribution of trade counts, then look at total volume. If the numbers look too perfect, I suspect I might be misreading.
