Do you want to invest in crypto without overthinking it?
Here’s the method I use and that I recommend to the people around me.
1. Choose your profile in 10 seconds
Cautious: you mainly want to protect your capital; you accept more modest gains.
Balanced: you want a good trade-off between safety and potential.
Aggressive: you’re looking for maximum performance; you accept big swings.
If you hesitate, choose balanced or even cautious. You can always take more risk later.
2. An ultra-simple structure
No matter your profile, keep this logic:
Solid base: Bitcoin (BTC) + Ethereum (ETH)
Boost: a few major altcoins
Speculative (optional): a small part for smaller projects
3. Three models ready to copy
Cautious
60–70% BTC
20–30% ETH
10–20% major altcoins
0–5% speculative
Balanced
40–50% BTC
25–35% ETH
20–30% major altcoins
5–10% speculative
Aggressive
25–35% BTC
20–30% ETH
30–40% major altcoins
10–20% speculative
These aren’t personalized recommendations, but thought models.
4. How to buy without stress
Invest only the money you can afford to see drop.
Use DCA: buy a little every week/month instead of putting it all in at once.
Start with BTC and ETH, then add altcoins later.
Track your purchases (date, amount, asset) in a simple table.
Personally, I DCA mostly into BTC and ETH, and I’m very disciplined about it.
5. Three rules that protect you
Diversify: never put everything into a single project.
Set sell rules before you buy (when you exit, and why you exit).
Limit the number of assets: 10–15 max in your core portfolio.
6. Quick example
You’re balanced, you have €1,000 to invest for the long term:
€450 in BTC
€300 in ETH
€200 in 4 major altcoins (€50 each)
€50 in 1–2 small projects
Spread this over 5–10 weeks with a DCA, note everything, and follow through in the long run.
7. The 3 mistakes to avoid
Wanting to “time” the market (buy at the lowest, sell at the highest).
Buying coins because an influencer says so, without understanding.
Changing strategy every week based on price movements.
Me, I review my strategy at most 1–2 times per year, unless there’s a major change in my life.
8. 30-second checklist
I chose my profile (cautious / balanced / aggressive).
I have a simple allocation (BTC, ETH, altcoins, speculative).
I invest only “riskable” money.
I enabled 2FA and secured my accounts.
I have a buy plan (DCA) and I keep track of it.
I have clear selling rules.
I stick to a reasonable number of assets.
Question for you:
Do you see yourself more as cautious, balanced, or aggressive?
And what’s your biggest fear about crypto right now?
