Bitcoin for the first time in 45 weeks closed above the 50-week MA

Bitcoin finished the week above the 50-week moving average for the first time in 45 weeks — a historically significant technical signal that in the past has coincided with the end of bearish cycles.

According to Galaxy Research, Bitcoin closed the week on September 20, 2026 at $81,159, while the 50-week MA stood at $78,786. Over the preceding 35 days, the price rose by 29%.

Based on the analysis, the historical odds that the cycle bottom has already formed after such a breakout are 75%, and 100% when excluding the 2020 coronavirus sell-off.
