Injective’s RWA upgrade is here—this time, it’s not just about telling a story
The Injective community has passed the IIP 701 Meridian upgrade with nearly 99% support
According to the plan, the upgrade will begin on September 24. The key focus is to bring compliant RWA tokenization capabilities into the EVM layer
In simple terms, it will make real-world assets easier to move onto the blockchain
Over the past few years, RWA has been one of the market’s favorite narratives
Treasury bills, real estate, fund shares, stocks, and credit assets have all been repeatedly discussed
But the problem is that most RWA projects remain at the concept level
The real key to execution is not just issuing a token—it’s how the asset gets integrated, how the rules are enforced, how liquidity is formed, and how investors can enter and exit
Injective’s focus with this upgrade is to try to combine RWA with the EVM development environment
For developers, the EVM ecosystem already has relatively mature tools and development experience
If Injective can make RWA-related products simpler—so that project teams can issue and manage on-chain assets at lower cost—then it really could find its place in this direction
But I think INJ’s price action shouldn’t be judged by the words “upgrade” alone
The most common mistake the market makes is equating a technical upgrade directly with token price appreciation
An upgrade is expectation—the real value depends on what happens after launch: whether there are applications, trading volumes, fee income, and whether real assets actually come on-chain
If, after the September 24 upgrade, the ecosystem doesn’t show clear changes, then the capital that drove the early rally may choose to take profits
Conversely, if new RWA products appear quickly, institutional partnerships increase, and on-chain capital grows, then this upgrade will have genuinely built fundamental support
At present, INJ is trading above $7, with a 24-hour gain of over 20%
Short-term sentiment is already running hot
So a more prudent approach isn’t to chase blindly after a big surge, but to wait and see what the market answers once the upgrade is actually rolled out
Can the technical solution become real, usable utility?
That’s the most important test Injective still has ahead
