Bitcoin week of weakness that seemed to have every reason to stay weak.
For the first time since 2023, the Fed raised its rate—by 25 bps, to 3.75–4%. The day before that, the Senate failed to advance the CLARITY Act: 49–50.
$BTC after falling to around $75.4K, reversed and, on September 18–19, returned above $81K. That’s about +7.4% from the local low.
Another factor is the spot BTC ETF. Only on September 18 did they receive $433M in net inflows. But for the entire week, the result was only +$6.2M. So I wouldn’t rush to call a single strong day proof of large-scale institutional accumulation.
There’s also a technical detail: the level around $78.7K that people are talking about a lot is a 50-week, not a 50-day moving average.
And this is the most interesting part for me. The market got a rate hike, a regulatory blow—and still moved back above $81K.
I’m not automatically calling this the start of a new bull cycle. But it’s a good test for the thesis: “macro is bad—Bitcoin falls.”
As always, the market turned out to be a bit more complicated than one headline.
I’ll be watching to see whether this resilience turns into structure, rather than just one strong rebound. If you want to break down these moments without magical cause-and-effect links, follow @MoonMan567
